Year 8 Girls Bletchley Park Trip

On Monday 12 June, Year 8 went to Bletchley park and enjoyed learning lots of new things about code breaking during the Second World War. One of the highlights of the day was a short immersive film we watched, giving us further information about code breaking during WW2, and the significance of the role of the many incredible mathematicians involved, helping to enable the D-Day landings. Another exciting activity was a workshop about coding and the complexities of the German Enigma machine. We listened to a short presentation about the different types of codes and how they were broken, before trying to solve some codes ourselves. Later, we visited the gift shop where we were able to buy some small souvenirs to remind us of our trip. It was a memorable trip and we are very grateful for the opportunity to visit Bletchley Park.
