Girls Go Gold

On 14th September, a group of Year 10, 11, and 12 pupils travelled to The Abbey School in Reading to attend the GSA Girls Go Gold event. The day began with an inspiring talk from Dame Katherine Grainger, who talked about her journey to becoming an Olympian. Dame Katherine talked about not being selected for the top boats at university and how this determination drove her motivation for future success. The girls attended workshops throughout the day in a variety of different sports, such as cricket, athletics, and football. Each of these sessions was led by GB coaches or former international athletes. The day was a great opportunity for the girls to listen to inspiring talks from sportswomen such as ex-England Rugby captain Sarah Hunter, CBE, and Dame Denise Lewis.

Go Girls Go

Girls Go Gold was such an inspiring and exciting day for all of us. It included sports masterclasses on your chosen sport, which were conducted by athletes such as team GB netball player Fran Williams. We got taught so many drills on how to improve in netball, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

There were many sports talks run by ex-athletes such as Dame Denise Lewis, Dame Katherine Grainger, and Sarah Hunter. This was such a good experience, and we all learned so much.”
