Vacancies on the Board of Governors
Would you like to share your experience and skills in return for the satisfaction of knowing that you are contributing towards the achievement and personal development of the next generation?
By joining the Board of Governors at Rye you will help to ensure the school’s continued financial viability and strong academic standards that underpin pupils’ success. Governors shape the future strategy of the school and give support to the Head. Acting as a ‘critical friend’ you provide an independent and objective viewpoint as well as your expert knowledge and advice, and act as a sounding board for new ideas.
As a Governor you will be supported by the Association of Governing Bodies of Independent Schools (AGBIS) which offers a range of high quality seminars and training materials to help you understand and fulfil the responsibilities of the role. For more information visit the AGBIS website.
Applications are invited for the role of Governor from people with experience of working in finance, business, law, property, technology, health, human resources, marketing or education. We welcome applications from alumnae and former parents with relevant expertise, and members of the local business community.
The role is unpaid but you will be rewarded by a great sense of achievement in seeing the school move forward and new initiatives contributing to children’s happiness and development. You have the opportunity to extend your range of skills and gain immense satisfaction from playing a vital role in the success of the school.
If you would like to speak informally with one of our current Governors to find out more about the role, please contact Ellen Phelips, Human Resources Manager: firstname.lastname@example.org; 01865 229227.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and the school expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. An overseas criminal record check may also be required.
DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE CODE OF PRACTICE
As an organisation using the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checking service to assess applicants’ suitability for positions of trust, the school complies fully with the DBS Code of Practice and undertakes to treat all applicants for positions fairly. It undertakes not to discriminate unfairly against any subject of a DBS check on the basis of a conviction or other information revealed.
