Languages Ambassador Marina (Year 13)

The Languages Department is thrilled to recruit new Languages Ambassadors scheme for the academic year 2023-2024 at Rye St Antony. The aim of the scheme is to promote foreign language learning and diversity. The Rye Languages Ambassadors are passionate pupils who love different cultures and speak different languages. They act as role models, promoting the importance of language learning.

The main roles of a Languages Ambassadors are to represent Languages in whole school events, welcome pupils who are new to our school, support their peers in their journey of learning a new foreign language, attend foreign languages clubs, and run languages taster sessions for younger pupils.

Meet Marina (Year 13), who shares more about her experience as a Languages Ambassador and her love for languages:Languages Ambassadors

Hi, my name is Marina, and I’m one of the Languages Ambassador at Rye. I love languages because it connects people across all backgrounds and open new doors and opportunities. I have had the opportunity to work with so many young people in the school to help them improve their language skills, which has been very rewarding for me as it has also helped to improve my personal language skills.

I’ve participated in Open Days and GCSE Option Evenings, as well as tutoring students in the school for their GCSE Spanish exams. I have also had experiences with languages at Rye by attending Spanish plays and helping to lead clubs to younger years. A highlight of being a Languages Ambassador at Rye is that it has allowed me to have new experiences and make new friends whilst consistently improving my skills.

This has all been a great experience and has allowed me to go on to study Spanish at university.

I would recommend being a Languages Ambassador to someone who has a strong passion and really loves the languages that they learn. I think that being a Languages Ambassador helps to be more outgoing, improves communication skills, and looks impressive to potential universities and employers.’
