‘You’ve captured the stars, now reach for the moon’

As we move further into Autumn, it is not just the crunch and the bang of fireworks and toffee apples that permeate, but also the pop and bang of excitement for new challenges, opportunities and change.  Nothing was clearer than this when our candidates for Prep School Captains presented their final manifesto in assembly.

They spoke of equality, a voice for all, leadership, integrity, inclusivity and kindness.  As Olivia put it, ‘ you’ve captured the stars, now reach for the moon’.

What excellent representatives they all are, not just of our community but of the exciting and dynamic future generations who will continue to build a legacy of peace, sustainability, and kindness.

The autumnal feel in the air and the changing weather has not only brought more opportunity for indoor activities but also increased the popularity of Forest School Club! It is not just the toasted marshmallows that attract, but the roaring fire and the sense of discovery and exploration through woodland crafts that draws the crowd.

Our Forest School Lead, Ms Nic DeRushie’s passion is indefatigable and surely transfers to any pupil who spends time at the forest school.

This week, we have two representatives attending the COP26 Climate Summit, where they will be showcasing the work that we plan to complete at Rye for sustainability and to tackle climate change. We look forward to seeing the exciting actions that come from this summit, and how we as a community can build a more sustainable legacy for the generations to come.
