How to apply for Sixth Form at Rye

A time to specialise in and develop individual areas of interest and prepare for life in the outside world. We offer an exceptional A-level programme with all the opportunities in leadership roles, social development and careers support. The ideal transition to University.

To join our Sixth Form, we invite girls to come for an interview with Sixth Form subject teachers, and our  Head, Sarah Davis.

Applicants to Sixth Form are expected to achieve grade 5 or above in a minimum of five GCSE (or equivalent) subjects, with grade 6/7 or above in any subject to be continued at A-Level.

Conditional places are offered on the evidence of the interview, plus reports and references from the applicants’ current school.

A day visit to Sixth Form is optional as is an overnight stay for prospective boarders: we highly recommend that you come along and experience as much as you can. This is the best way to find out what life is like at Rye in the Sixth Form.

International applicants to the Sixth Form will be required to take entrance examinations either at their current school, recognised agency, or other approved establishment. A good level of English is required to access the A-Level programme. We would expect candidates to have passed the Cambridge First Certificate or have IELTS 5 or 6.

If visits to the school are not possible, Skype interviews will be arranged with the applicant and conducted by senior members of staff.

A formal offer of a place is made once all entrance procedures are completed. Parents are asked to confirm their acceptance in writing, enclosing a registration fee of £150 and an acceptance deposit of £500 for a day pupil or £1,000 for a boarding pupil (£2,500 for an overseas boarder) to secure the Sixth Form place.

In Sixth Form, we were encouraged to be curious, independent women. Now I am at University, I realise that is exactly what Rye has made me.

Sixth Form leaver

I barely spoke any English when I first came to Rye, but quickly I learnt, and now I feel confident in my speaking ability.
