Expansion of Sixth Form Centre photo

Friday 16th October 2009

We are delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted for an extension to our Sixth Form Centre in The Cottage. The alterations will include a glass-fronted extension to the dining room with doors opening into the grounds. The design will incorporate cedar wood from the tree that grew behind Langley Lawn until it was felled following damage sustained during a snow storm in February this year. This new, orangery style space will also provide girls with a common room area. A new study room for use by the whole Sixth Form will be created on the ground floor, with doors opening out into the grounds, and the current first-floor study area will be enlarged and refurbished. There will be separate entrances to the Sixth Form Centre, boarding house, and the Health Centre, and a new Reception and staff office will be built for the boarding house. Additions and improvements will be made to study bedrooms, and to the Housemistress’s flat. The work, due to start during the October half-term, has been planned to cause minimum disruption to pupils, and it is hoped that completion will be in July 2010, in time for the start of the new academic year.
