Rye’s new Sports Centre, opened in September 2008, incorporates a Fitness Suite and multi-purpose sports hall, and the School has fine playing fields, a series of all-weather pitches and an outdoor heated swimming pool, all within the beautiful surroundings of the school grounds.

The major games are hockey and netball in the winter and tennis, swimming, athletics and rounders in the summer. From Year 11 upwards pupils are given the opportunity to participate in other activities including pop lacrosse, aerobics and football. Girls also have the opportunity to participate in gymnastics and dance as well as trampolining as an extra-curricular option. In addition the busy extra-curricular programme offers badminton, ballet, fencing, fitness, football, modern dance, recreational swimming, sailing and tennis coaching.

There is a full programme of fixtures with other schools, and the School competes regularly in the Oxford City and Oxfordshire inter-schools tournaments. Girls are selected each year for county teams and regional teams.

Each girl is encouraged to develop her skills and interests in a range of sports activities so that, whether her sport is a major commitment or a leisure activity, it will be a source of pleasure and satisfaction.
